Orthodontics

We provide both conventional orthodontics (metal brackets and wires) and Invisalign clear aligner trays, and we also have a talented group of orthodontists that we work closely with when orthodontic treatment is more complex.

Bearspaw

Located in southern Alberta, Bearspaw is a rural community in the Rocky View County that is mostly made up of country residential land.

Bearspaw is found northwest of the city of Calgary, and east of Cochrane, on the 1A Highway. Glendale is on the east of Bearspaw, while Bow River is on the northside.

In 1909, a station was erected at Bearspaw by Canadian Pacific Railway. The station was named after Chief Masgwaahsid or otherwise known as Bear’s Paw, who was the chief of the Stoney Nations. He was the chief who signed the treaty at Blackfoot Crossing in 1877.

Bearspaw is located within the RVS area (Rocky View Schools) and is zoned for the primary and middle school called Bearspaw School, as well as the high school called Cochrane High School.

Mainly years ago, dairy farmers settled in the area. A school was also built in 1920, which had only one classroom. It remained open until 1965. This community grew to include many farms, ranches and land with carefully thought-out subdivisions.

For community and recreation purposes, the Bearspaw centre has a number of activities suitable for all ages. The centre has a banquet hall and stage. A homestead room that can seat 40 to 50 people, a dance studio, plus a gymnasium. It also sports a board room that can seat 12 people.

Bearspaw, although a small community, has its own fire station, providing fire coverage for the northwestern area of the county. The nearest hospital is in Calgary, but there are ground ambulances servicing the area.

Bearspaw also has a plant which was built in 1954. Its primary purpose was to reduce the likelihood of winter flooding and ice packing. It is located on the Bow River. This plant generates on average 70,000 megawatt hours per year.

Bearspaw has an impressive natural reserve area. The main ones include:

The Bearspaw Loop which you can access from RGE RD 30. It is a natural reserve area with paths for walking. Interpretive signs show the natural habitats in that area.

The Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park is found on the northern shore of Bow River, right between Cochrane and Calgary. With more than 1,300 hectares of foothill parkland.

The 12 Mile Coulee is found in the northwestern part of Calgary at Tuscany BLVD and Stoney Trail. This coulee is a natural park encompassing 190 hectares of land, containing two off-leash areas and many hiking trails.
