General Dentistry serving Balzac

At our core we are a family dental practice. We are located in NW Calgary and provide all facets of general family dentistry with the philosophy that the best dentistry is no dentistry. Our focus is on education and prevention and taking the long view for your oral health.

We provide both conventional orthodontics (metal brackets and wires) and Invisalign clear aligner trays, and we also have a talented group of orthodontists that we work closely with when orthodontic treatment is more complex.

Teeth that are in their right places look better, work better and last longer, and there are several reasons why this is so. Your smile sends a message to the world and we believe that there is beauty in imperfection.  However for some people, orthodontics plays an important and conservative role in improving the appearance of their smile.

The gums and bones supporting your teeth are vulnerable to infection and inflammation, which can cause gum disease and even tooth loss. Inflammation affects your whole body. and can play a role in heart disease. diabetes. hypertension and other serious health issues. We help you protect your health and your smile with regular cleaning and maintenance from our periodontal team.

Balzac is located in the southern part of Canada, in the province of Alberta, which is a part of the Rocky View County. This little hamlet, is found west of the Queen Elizabeth II Highway. At the junction with Highway 566. Distance wise it is found about 15 miles north of the Calgary CBD, and about 7.5 miles south of Airdrie.

According to the jurisdictions of Canada, Balzac is situated in census division 6. It falls under the administration of Rocky View County. After July 31, 2007, Balzac’s location became adjacent to Calgary’s northern city limits, and directly west of the Crossiron Mills shopping mall.

In the year 1910, a railway station of the Canadian Pacific Railway began operations in Balzac. It’s name was derived by William Cornelius van Horne, who was then president of the Canadian Pacific Railway, after a favorite French novelist of his, Honoré de Balzac.

Balzac has a general store which houses a restaurant and a gas station. It is also adjacent to the Crossiron Mills shopping centre, the biggest mall in Alberta. A business park which opened in 2009 surrounds the mall.

In 2015 a horse-racing track and casino were added, with an equestrian college campus in the pipeline. Although the mall and businesses around it are actually part of the Rocky View County they are referred to as being in Balzac.

Balzac has also attracted the attention of big time investors like Walmart and Amazon. In 2010 Walmart opened a 400,000 square foot distribution center, which acts as a fresh food hub for Western Canada.

Amazon agreed in late 2017, to set up a 600,000 square foot distribution center in Balzac. With this agreement comes the promise of 750 permanent jobs. What makes Balzac such a good location is their nearness to the Calgary International Airport, which is great for faster shipping.

Balzac boasts a couple of recreational facilities including:
Balzac Community Hall: This hall has been in usage for over 80 years. It has a 2,000 square foot dance and stage area that can accommodate more than 225 people, with a large meeting space downstairs. It has parking space for more than 80 vehicles. There is also a kitchen for preparation of food.
